Digital beam forming
In modern wireless communication, beam forming is a well known technique used to improve antenna gain and eliminate the interference. In such a way, power needed to transmit signals is greatly reduced. Conventional beam forming techniques utilize analog devices which require a lot of customized electronics hardware. Thus, the cost of beam forming implementation has been ridiculously high. Meanwhile, reconfiguration is inconvenient and expensive as well. Yet, with digital beam forming, all calculation is processed in software which increases flexibility significantly. What’s more, since all electronics are commercial off-the-shelf, expenses of digital beam forming utilities are trivial comparing to convention.
